How to join or merge Paths in Zapier
Add Paths to your playbook
First, add Paths to your playbook. For this guide, we're going to use a rule-based Path.
You can add Paths by clicking [+], then Paths followed by Rule-based Paths.
We are configuring Path A to be used when the closed Deal from within HubSpot is of the 'Standard' tier. Path B will by default be the case for all other possibilities, which in our example is the 'Custom' tier.
Add an action to Path A
Now, let's add an action to Path A. In this example, we'll be sending an email to the customer for which a deal was just closed.
As Path A was for Deals of the 'Standard' tier, we are going to attach our Standard Agreement to the email. This was obtained from a Google Drive - Get File step earlier in the playbook.
Copy the step into Path B, and adjust it
When Path B is to be followed, we want to send an adjusted version of the email that goes out to our 'Standard' tier customers. We'll want the email for 'Custom' tier customers to contain a PDF of the custom agreement that we created in an earlier step.
Click on the [...] overflow menu of the Send Email step, click Duplicate and drag the step into Path B.
Next, edit the step by adjusting the message content and removing the previously added attachment of our standard agreement.
Instead, we'll add a different attachment: the PDF export of the Google Document that we custom created based on the details about the deal of this customer.
Merge the Paths
Merging or rejoining the paths to add steps that need to be ran in all cases is easy! Just click [+] below the Paths section and continue to add steps to your playbook.
In this example, we'll add a record to our Customer Agreements table in SmartSuite, and we'll add the relevant PDF into this table.
💡 The best part is that don't have to worry about which file to pick. Since we just sent an email in both Paths and in both cases we attached the PDF of either the Standard or Custom agreement, we can use simply pick the attachment from the email that was just sent and add that to our table in SmartSuite. Relay will figures out that it'll be the file from the email that was actually sent (since only one of the two Paths could have been taken)
That's it! 🎉
